HONORING OUR TROOPS

The Glenview Blaze thanks all of the teams who are joining us for our annual Salute to the Troops Memorial Day Weekend Tournament.  The Blaze started the Salute to the Troops Tournament, which is now in its 14th year, not only to afford young players a forum to showcase their talents on the baseball field, but also to show our support for those who are serving, and have served, in the military to defend our freedom and to remember those who lost their lives defending our freedom.

We again are asking teams and fans to bring donations or write letters that will be sent to the troops. Donations being sought can be something as inexpensive as a letter from a player. We will also accept cash donations at our concession stands in specially marked jars. In recent years, several teams sent group letters with team pictures. If you would like a return letter, please include a blank piece of paper and an open self addressed envelope (no stamp required). All donations will be sent to the troops through coordination with the Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express. Donations will be collected at Community Park West gazebo and Westbrook School concession stand. Feel free to craft your own letter to the men and women serving in our armed forces.
